Service Description

This one-on-one consultation gives you focused time to work through a poem, prepare for performance, navigate publishing, strengthen your teaching practice, or develop an arts program with a Poet House Coach. Each session is tailored to your goals. During booking, you'll select the area you'd like to focus on. Poetry Feedback Bring one or more poems for close reading, revision, and conversation about craft. Recommended for: Individual poems Chapbooks Full-length manuscripts MFA and graduate school portfolios Competition poems Please submit writing samples at least 48 hours before your appointment. Performance Coaching Prepare for an open mic, feature, competition, recording, audition, or other public performance. Sessions may focus on memorization, delivery, pacing, stage presence, audience engagement, and performance strategy. Publishing & Professional Practice Get support with the professional side of your literary and creative practice, including submissions, manuscript preparation, artist statements, grant and residency applications, and creative entrepreneurship. Teaching Artist Support Develop or strengthen workshops, residencies, curriculum, and classroom experiences. Sessions may focus on lesson planning, facilitation, community-engaged arts practices, and educational program design. Organizational Consulting Designed for schools, libraries, nonprofits, museums, and arts organizations seeking support with spoken word programming, youth initiatives, event development, artist engagement, community partnerships, and program design. Scheduling Consultations are not scheduled directly through online booking. After you submit your request, a Poet House Coach will contact you to coordinate a mutually available date and time for your session. Your appointment will be confirmed once scheduling is complete. Before Your Session After your date and time are confirmed, you'll receive instructions for submitting materials and sharing any questions, goals, or context you'd like your coach to review in advance. This allows your Poet House Coach to prepare intentionally and make the most of your session.
