Respect & Inclusion Policy

Effective Date: July 1st, 2024

The Poet House is committed to fostering a brave, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants, audience members, artists, and staff across our programs, including every.Word Poetry and Courageous Cadence. We believe in cultivating spaces where creative expression is celebrated while honoring the dignity of all individuals.

Prohibited Conduct:
We do not tolerate language or content that promotes or perpetuates hate speech, discrimination, harassment, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, body size, socioeconomic status, or any other protected or marginalized identity.

 

Zero Tolerance Policy:
Violations of this policy may result in immediate removal from the event or program, termination of participation, and forfeiture of any compensation, stipends, or benefits associated with The Poet House programming.

 

Shared Responsibility:
Respect and inclusion are a collective responsibility. The Poet House staff, program leaders, participants, performers, and audience members are expected to actively uphold these values and hold one another accountable with care and integrity.

 

Program Moderation:
The Poet House reserves the right to moderate all programming to ensure alignment with this policy and to preserve the safety, well-being, and integrity of our community.
